Prime Minister Modi to flag off Pune Metro Rail Project on the 6th of March

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pune on the 6th of March 2022 and inaugurate the Pune Metro Rail Project, said a release from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The Prime Minister will also be inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of multiple development projects.

Prime Minister will unveil Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s about 9.5 feet tall statute made up of 1850 kg gun metal, in the Pune Municipal Corporation premises, at 11 am.

At 11:30 am Prime Minister will inaugurate the Pune Metro Rail Project. This project is an attempt to provide world class infrastructure for urban mobility. The foundation stone of the project was laid by the Prime Minister on 24th Dec 2016.

Prime Minister will be inaugurating 12 km stretch of the total 32.2 km Pune Metro Rail project. More than Rs 11,400 crore has been infused for the entire project. Later on, he will inaugurate the exhibition that has been put up at the Garware Metro Station and will take a metro ride from Garware Metro Station to Anandnagar Metro Station.

Thereon, the PM will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects. He will also lay the foundation stone of rejuvenation and pollution control of Mula-Mutha River project. The rejuvenation project will be carried on in the 9 Km stretch of the river at a cost of more than Rs 1080 crores.

The project involves development works such as the protection of the river’s edge, interceptor sewage network, public amenities, boating facilities etc. Mula-Mutha River pollution control project is to be implemented on the core idea of One City One Operator and will cost more than Rs 1470 crore. 11 sewage treatment plants have been planned to be constructed under the project, which will have a combined capacity of around 400 MLD. He will also launch 140 e-buses and e-bus depot that has been constructed at Baner.

Further on, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the RK Laxman Art Gallery-Museum constructed at Balewadi, Pune. The central attraction of the Museum is a scaled-down model of the Malgudi village, which will come to life with the help of audio-visual effects. The Cartoons drawn by the noted cartoonist RK Laxman will be showcased in the Museum. Later on, the Prime Minister will torch-off the Golden Jubilee celebration of Symbiosis University at around 1:45 PM.
