The Minister of Trade and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Distribution and Fabric, Shri Piyush Goyal today held the fourth meeting of the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC) in New Delhi. Speaking at the event, the Minister reaffirmed continued government support for the development of the startup ecosystem. He commended the work done by NSAC members and urged them to focus on level 2 and phase 3 cities where limited VC funding is available. He also emphasized the need for skills development and awareness of various government programs to promote the development of such cities. Council members have also been visiting the provinces and interviewing emerging entrepreneurs and students at educational institutions to understand and find ways to empower the first ecosystem.
Council discussed important issues related to the implementation of the ecosystem which includes protecting ownership of startups with real facilitators, including in India, listing in India, developing innovation centers, etc. Members also shared progress on programs presented at previous NSAC meetings including the National Mentorship Program, Investor-Startup Evaluation Portal, Incubator Power Development Program, etc. The Minister also launched the NavIC Grand Challenge which aims to promote the acceptance of NavIC as a geo-positioning solution, Aatmanirbharta’s digital supporter. Major challenges applications have been opened on the Startup India website (www.startupdia.gov.in) and aim to identify and implement implementation solutions involved in developing NavIC-enabled drones.
The Department of Industry Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has established a National Initiative Advisory Council to advise Government on the necessary steps to build a strong environmental plan to promote innovation in the country to sustain sustainable economic growth and create more jobs. In addition to the former members, the council has non-official members, representing various stakeholders such as successful founders, veterans who have grown and grown companies in India, people who can represent the interests of investors, incubators and accelerators as starters, representatives. of stakeholder organizations for beginners and representatives of industrial organizations. It is a kind organization where the policy-making process is carried out as part of a partnership between all key Startup ecosystem stakeholders.
The Secretary, Local Government also highlighted the various steps being taken by the Government to strengthen NavIC capabilities and to create a complete software and hardware program alike. At the meeting, Prasar Bharti unveiled a trailer for the second edition of the Startup Champions 2.0 that will be broadcast on Doordarshan channel in the coming months.
