Indian team lighting red carpet in Cannes

Appearing starred on the Red Carpet, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Shri Anurag Thakur today led India’s largest official team of eleven celebrities marching together for the first Cannes Film Festival.At a historic moment in Indian folk art, Shri Mame Khan became the first artist to open the Red Carpet for an Indian band in Cannes regularly.Highlighting the diversity and diversity of Indian cinema, the colorful red carpet featured film celebrities from all over India. Comprising eleven members marching on the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals, the team holds all the hallmarks of India’s desire to become a global cinema venue.

The ten celebrities who accompanied the Minister included three music veterans, who raised the Indian flag at the international level, and famous filmmakers and actors of Indian Cinema representing a diversity kaleidoscope from various regions, languages, mainstream and OTT leading cinema. India is a land of storytellers setting a good international story for its strongest presence on the Red Carpet in Cannes.

Among the stars was actor Nawazuddin Siddique, who is based in Cannes. His raw, powerful and realistic portrayal of his films, such as The Lunchbox or the Wasseypur Gangs, has caused quite a stir among European audiences, and shows that India is capable of producing films that cater to a wide range of sensitivities.The presence of renowned music composer AR Rahman in the band has shown the intention of the Indian band to pay homage to cinema music – because, perhaps more than anywhere else in the world, audio songs play a major role in the DNA of Indian cinema. To reflect the eclecticism of country music, different genres were represented on the red carpet. Ricky Kej, a world-renowned new Grammy Award-winning music composer, represents the latest in India, while Mame Khan, a Rajasthan filmmaker and traditional artist, portrays the cultural influence of traditional Indian film. Prasoon Joshi, a songwriter who wrote countless green film songs, and now Chairman of the Central Film Board (CBFC), was also present.

Ambassadors from various regional cinemas deployed, sent a message to the world that India – which boasts 25 regional film industries – has many different scents and styles offered for film production. This year, cinema from the south was the highlight. R. Madhavan, an actor and producer who has been involved in films shot in six different languages ​​(Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English) was a good example of the amazing diversity of Indian film. Two Telugu cinema stars, Tamannah Bhatia and Pooja Hegde, also appeared to be seen as part of the team.

ShekharKapur, director of popular films such as Mr. India, and now chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), as well as Vani TripathiTikoo, actor and member of the CBFC, also participated in the Indian team.

Background:The Cannes Film Festival, which annually collects who works in the film industry around the world, will take place from May 17 to 28, 2022, and will be the event for Indian delegates to participate in various events and high-profile conferences.The festival is special this year by celebrating the power of Indian cinema as India is the first official country of honor at the Marche du Film. India is also a “Land of Honor” at Cannes Next, where 5 new Startups will be given the opportunity to enter the Audio-Visual industry. Ten professionals will take part in the Cartoon Day network. As a major highlight of India’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival, the World’s premier Movie “Rocketry” produced by Shri. R. Madhavan is scheduled to be exhibited at the Palais des Festivals on May 19, 2022.
