One District One Product(ODOP) Workshop hosted under  KBPH Campaign, 2022 by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries under PMFME Scheme

In commemoration of the Azadi of AmritMahotsav, the Government of India’s move to celebrate the glorious 75th anniversary of the development of India, its rich history, culture and great achievements, the “KisanBhagidariPrathmiktaHamari” campaign is scheduled for 25.04. 22 to 30.04.22.

As part of the campaign, the Department of Food Processing Industry, under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, has organized an ODOP-based workshop on the processing and Value addition of Walnuts in the Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir districts. .

The event was opened by Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar. The ODOP workshop aims to provide a platform for all food technology stakeholders to convey, discuss and get to know participants about new emerging food processing techniques and new technological innovations in Walnut Processing in the Kishtwar region.

Sh. Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Director, Agriculture (Planning and Marketing) Jammu and Kashmir gave the first talk. He highlighted the importance of the food processing industry which is developing the Indian economy and through the PMFME Program government efforts to promote digestion in India. The event was hosted by Shs. Sunil Singh, Nodal district official, Kishtwar.

The workshop was the presence of key industry speakers who shared their ideas with small businesses and farmers to pave the way for walnut products to reach domestic and international levels.

Among the prominent speakers were, Shri Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dy. Commissioner, Kishtwar. DrBrij Paul SMS (PP) Department of Agriculture, Kishtwar spoke on the merits of the regional ODOP. Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar urged farmers / farmers to come forward and play an active role in the implementation of the departmental silent plans to increase the income of these farmers. Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar also informed that the district authorities are working on the establishment of the Model “Mandi” in the district. He also announced that 50 Canals of the world along the national highway in the region have been identified to establish a mandi that will provide a common platform for exhibition, marketing and marketing of products and provide national level access to farmers.

Mr. Khalid Malik General Manager, DIC, Kishtwar hosted a session on “Potential and Technology for MicroEntrepreneurs”

Drs. Syed Zameer Hussain, Head, Food Unit Sc. & Technology, SKUAST-K, conducted a session on “The scope and strategies of the future to process and increase the number of Walnuts in J&K, especially in Kishtwar District”.

The ODOP Workshop under the KisanBhagidariPrathmiktaHamari Campaign is one of the initiatives of the M / o Food Processing Industries and the support of prominent industry experts to educate and guide farmers in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir to make informed decisions to grow their food business. samanje.

In addition to the participation of various keynote speakers, the event was attended by about 300 farmers, fruit growers and government officials from across UT and small food processing businesses. It was also successfully hosted live and saw great participation from all stakeholders.

Launched under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme is a highly funded program aimed at improving the competitiveness of small businesses in the informal sector of the food processing industry and promoting legalization. sector and provide support to Farmer Producers’ Associations, Self-Help Groups, and Producer Associations throughout their value chain. With an outflow of Rs. 10,000 crore over a five-year period from 2020-21 to 2024-25, the program aims to directly assist 2,00,000 small food processing units to provide financial, technical, and business support for the development of existing small food processing businesses.
