Indian Navy Rescues All 21 Crew Members from Hijacked Cargo Ship Near Somalia Coast

The Indian Navy successfully rescued all 21 crew members, including 15 Indians, from a cargo ship that was hijacked near the coast of Somalia. The rescue operation involved the deployment of a warship, maritime patrol aircraft, helicopters, and Predator MQ9B drones following a hijacking distress call involving the cargo ship MV Lila Norfolk.

In a video shared by the Indian Navy, the rescued crew members, including the Indians, can be seen expressing gratitude and chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” The Navy conducted a sanitization of the ship, and elite commandos (MARCOS) confirmed the absence of hijackers. The crew is now engaged in restoring the ship’s propulsion, power supply, and steering gear.
