SharadPawar, a veteran politician who leads the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Monday said some people began to worry after the power outage in Maharashtra. Pawar’s statement came after a recent dispute in the western province over the use of microphones in religious sites and the singing of Hanuman Chalisa. Pawar, whose party shares power with Shiv Sena and Congress, said it was a good idea for the national government to convene a multi-party conference on the issue and would be very happy if anything good came out of the talks.
“Power comes and goes and there is no need to worry. “Some people are worried and I do not blame them, because before the general election (2019), there were complaints of re-election but it did not happen and that is why they are worried,” said Pawar.
Commenting on the demands of the President’s administration in the province, the veteran leader said such threats were not new and had no effect.
Threats to the presidency are often made, but to no avail… This is nothing new. Not everyone is like me. After our (regional) government was ousted in 1980, I was informed about this at 12.30pm. My friends and I quickly left the house (CM) and moved to another location and the next day, we all went to watch a cricket match at Wankhede Stadium and enjoyed the whole day, “said the former Pune prime minister.
