The Indo-Israel bilateral workshop on Quantum Technologies

Quantum Technology is a phase of technology that operates using the principles of quantum mechanics sub-atomic physics, which includes quantum entanglement and quantum superposition. It includes the most reliable navigation systems and times more secure communication a more accurate concept of health care using a quantum sensor.

The two-day Indo-Israel Bilateral on Quantum Technologies (I2QT-2022) workshop, organized by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the DRDO-Industry Academia Center of Excellence (DIA-CoE), IIT Delhi is in New Delhi on April 06, 2022 The purpose of the workshop was to discuss quantum technology, to transform the integrated roadmap of quantum technology and the technological development process between the two countries.

The concluding session, led by Dr. VK Saraswat, Member NitiAayog, was held as a discussion session to develop a road map and specific areas for collaboration. This workshop is an important step in bringing together research organizations to increase research speed in the field of quantum technology.

An Innovation Agreement Signed

The workshop became the next step in the Bilateral Innovation (BIA) Initiative Agreement signed between DRDO, India and the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR & D), Israel in November 2021 to promote the establishment and acceleration of R&D initially with MSMEs from both countries.

The MoU was to promote various technological development initiatives including quantum technology with the support of DRDO, India and the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR & D), Israel. Technologies developed under the BIA will be available to both countries through their home systems.

The workshop was attended by Indian and Israeli delegates including education professionals, R&D specialists and industry partners. A total of 175 experts and scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Tirupati, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER),The Center for the Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), the Center for the Development of Telematics (CDoT) and the Department of Environment participated in the workshop.

Discussion on Quantum Technology

Many technical sessions at identified technical areas were held at this two-day workshop. The discussion areas were surrounded by photonics-based quantum computing, sensing, encryption, quantum magnetometry, atomic clocks and quantum free space communications. The collaborative research proposals discussed during the workshop will help to develop technical solutions for various applications.

Many beginners and MSMEs from the Indian industry have participated and presented their work. Israeli delegates, representatives of the Israeli Ministry of Defense and delegates from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) also participated in the conference talks.Quantum technology has many applications from scientific testing to secure communication, gravimetry and navigation, etc.

The two-day Indo-Israel Bilateral on Quantum Technologies (I2QT-2022) workshop, organized by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) with the intention of deliberately making quantum technology for both India & Israel. The workshop was attended by Indian and Israeli delegates including academics, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, and many more. Many beginners and MSMEs from the Indian industry participated and presented their work. The workshop was opened by Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of R&D Defense and DRDO Chair and Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT Delhi on April 05, 2022.
