Indian Government Hosting a meeting on Clean Energy Ministers

CEM (Clean Energy Ministerial) brings together the world’s largest and leading countries, international organizations and companies to achieve one goal, to accelerate clean energy transformation. The transition to clean, reliable and affordable energy will require international co-operatives to find solutions in each sector to significantly charge clean energy delivery and bring communities together.

India has hosted meetings of senior officials of the Minister of Clean Energy (CEM) starting on 7th April, 2022. This will be completed by 8 April, 2022. The meeting is scheduled to review the work of the various components of the Clean Energy Principles. The meeting will also be used to prepare the agenda for the upcoming Minister of Clean Energy Meeting in September 2022.

 The opening session held today discussed the “Transformation Agenda” with the welcome address of the Secretary-General, the Union Energy Department, followed by the Secretary’s Day address, the Union Department of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change. This was followed by discussions on topics such as Clean Power, Green Steel, and Hydrogen.

GOI and UK vision of Energy

The governments of India and the United Kingdom are leading a dialogue on the future of the Transformation. The International Energy Agency, the International Organization for Renewable Energy and the UN High Level Champion presented the emerging results of a draft report of the State of Sectoral Transitions (SoST), summarizing selected approaches and the overall track record of their work.

Increasing clean Energy Initiatives

The key speakers for this session are: Director-General, International Solar Alliance; Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Department of Energy; Adviser, Department of Finance. The second session was dedicated to “Promoting Clean Energy Development and Action Investment Opportunities”. This started with the opening remarks of the session chair, Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog. Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Invest India; Chairperson, IREDA; Chairman and Managing Director, Power Finance Corporation; and the Chairman and Managing Director, Rural Electrification Corporation are also the speakers.

The discussion included key interventions from industry representatives such as ADB, KfW, WB, Reliance, Adani Green, Dalmia Cement, Tata Cleantech, Hero Future, and Shell Energy, followed by an open internal discussion. The session aims to identify investment opportunities for innovation and the use of clean energy.

The Minister of Clean Energy (CEM) is a high-level international forum of 29 member states to promote policies and programs that promote clean energy technologies by sharing information and best practices that focus on transforming the future of clean energy globally. The key speakers for this session are: Director-General, International Solar Alliance; Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser etc. It brings together the world’s leading economies, international organizations and corporations to achieve a common goal, namely, to accelerate the transformation of clean energy. The session is aimed at identifying investment opportunities for renewable energy and distribution.
