Shri Dharmendra Pradhan presents Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Mela organized at all 700+ locations

Inspiring Prime Minister’s Skill India Mission, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Minister of Union Education, Skills Development, and Entrepreneurship, today launched the digital launch of the National Apprenticeship Mela in more than 700+ locations across the country. More than 4000 organizations from more than 30 industries, including energy, marketing, communications, IT / ITeS, electronics, automotive, and more, participated in the event. People with a 5 to 12 grade pass certificate, a skills training certificate, an ITI Diploma, or their qualifications were eligible to participate in the PM Apprenticeship mela.

 The main purpose of the program was to promote the employment of approximately 1 lakh interns and to assist employers in identifying and developing their skills through training and practical skills. In addition, young and aspiring employees are offered a choice of 500+ commercial careers, including welding, electrician, housekeeper, beautician, mechanic, and others. They have been offered on-the-job training and on a monthly basis in accordance with government policy.

Next, they will receive a monthly stipend according to government standards for developing new skills, the opportunity to earn while studying. Candidates will receive certificates, which are recognized by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), which increase employment opportunities after training.

Speaking at the launch of the National Apprenticeship Mela, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Union Education and Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, said, opportunities for our youth. It is gratifying to see service providers from manufacturing, electronics, services, energy, IT / ITES, trains, retailers and a few other emerging areas planning the Apprenticeship Mela.

Shri Pradhan said after 34 years we have a New Local Education Policy that guides India’s transformation into the AmritKaal. Educational credit will be awarded to trainees which can be used for future approaches. We must make vocational training a movement to participate in skills, retrain skills and develop the skills of the young people of India, improve individual economic productivity and advance national jobs.

Continuing the PM National Apprenticeship Mela will be a monthly event. A digital dashboard will be organized to further facilitate the process of learning and connecting our youth with relevant opportunities in the 21st century. Our effort will be to ensure that more than 10 lakh interns work with companies as students and take advantage of this opportunity to benefit while they study and find an entrance into the industry, “he added. During the interview, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan was particularly impressed with the business spirit of the young student from Bhubaneswar. He is studying for a Baker & Confectioner business career at Govt. ITI Bhubaneswar, plans to start her own bakery. He encouraged all participants to expand their thinking so that they could continue to increase the breadth and quality of the apprenticeship. Industrial linkages based on existing local economic opportunities will go a long way in increasing the learning opportunities for young people.

The PM Apprenticeship Mela has been a great opportunity for participating institutions, as they have been able to meet potential candidates in one area and select applicants based on their needs. In addition, small industries with at least four employees have been able to employ interns.

 According to the ministry, NAM is scheduled to take place in more than 700 locations across the country, with the aim of supporting youth employment opportunities.The program aims to link more than a dozen teens to NAM with digital payments on their bank accounts. Along with the grant money, trainees will also be given academic credits, which can be reused as needed. The Minister also revealed that more than 4000 companies have participated in Apprenticeship Mela 2022.
