Famous singer Daler Mehndi, former singer Kalapini Komkali and Sufi legend Madan Gopal Singh are among nine artists who will perform at the ‘Bhakti Sangeet Festival’ which kicks off on Friday of Art, Culture and Languages, will bring together famous artists to “celebrate the greatness of faith and discourse in devout music”.
“I believe that Bhakti music has the power to change people’s lives and to help them find peace and contentment in todays stressful times” Sododia in a statement.
While the first day of the festival will be played by Pune-based Classical voice Suranjan Khandalkar and Sufi singer Indira Naik, the second day star will be comedian Komkali – the legendary daughter Kumar Gandharva and Punjabi pop singer Mehndi, who plans to surprise the audience with a little known part of his music – devotional songs at the event.
“Devotional music has a profound effect on people who seek to connect with the creator. This 3-day Bhakti Sangeet festival not only reflects Indian spirituality but also serves as a unique platform for bringing people of different genres and groups together. This festival highlights the richness of our culture” said Monica Priyadarshini, secretary, Sahitya Kala Parishad.
Audiences will also be entertained by the delightful singing by Gwalior Gharana lead singer MeetaPandit and the touching singing of student singer Madan Gopal Singh. The musical epic will end with the singing of famous artists Prashant and Nishant Malik on Sunday.
