Energy Focus: LG Chem Company is planning to build a hydrogen plant in South Korea

Hydrogen energy sources include H2-flammable gas burners (eg SGT5-9000HL, SGT-800, or SGT-400), H2-compressed electrolyzes and storage, and our Omnivise ship management system to cover all components including renewable energy sources that supply electricity in the electrolyzer. Hydrogen fuel cells produce electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen atoms. Hydrogen combines oxygen with a battery-like electrochemical molecule to produce electricity, water, and heat.

Many different types of fuel cells are available for many applications more than 540 hydrogen filling stations have been operating worldwide, an increase of more than 15% since 2019. Green Hydrogen International (GHI) has launched its plans to build a 60 GW green hydrogen production facility near the Piedras Pintas salt dam in Texas. The center will be the largest in the world, the company said in a media statement. China is the largest producer of hydrogen today, with about 25 million tons (Mt), or about a quarter of the world’s total. Most of the volume is produced from mineral oil (60 percent from coal, and 25 percent from natural gas) as food items in refineries or chemical facilities.

South Korea’s LG Chem Ltd said on Monday it plans to build a hydrogen industry in South Korea to produce 50,000 tons of hydrogen annually by the second quarter of 2024, in an effort to reduce carbon emissions. The new facility is expected to use technology, converting methane into hydrogen by creating chemical reactions under very hot steam, LG Chem said in a statement.

“The facility is an integral part of LG Chem’s strategy to increase renewable energy such as hydrogen in the NCC system by up to 70 percent by 2025, as well as the company’s plans to make full use of hydrogen in renewable energy. Bio feed stocks such as vegetable oils hydro-treated. “

LG Chem, which uses three naphtha crackers with a total value of 3.3 million tons of ethylene per year, said it expects construction of its hydrogen facility to begin in the first half of 2023 with a view to completion by the second quarter of 2024.LG Chem shares traded 0.2 percent on morning trading, compared to the 1 percent fall in the KOSPI benchmark. As part of its plan, LG Chem plans to partner with Taekyung Chemical, Korea’s largest producer of carbonic acid gas, which uses clean CO2 as a raw material. LG did not provide any financial details.
