Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has announced ‘Yoga for Humanity’ as the theme for this year, to ensure how yoga helped humanity alleviate suffering during the Covid-19. . He has a strong feeling that yoga will unite people with kindness and compassion during the geopolitical post-Covid-19 crisis and promote a sense of global solidarity.

The Center of Excellence of khadi(CoEK) was established by KVIC, MSME Department at NIFT, with the aim of helping Khadi Institutions (KIs) successfully design, produce and market high quality separate card products in the Indian and international markets all. The Center of Excellence for the khadi (COEK) furthers the sentiments expressed in the body by drawing a strong resemblance to the ‘spirit of the khadi’ – meaning “sympathy for everyone in the world”. The essence of yoga is balance – not just the balance within the body or that between the mind and the body, but also the balance in human relationships with the world.

Looking at the core concept of Yoga, a team of designers at CoEK have designed a variety of ‘well-dressed’ ‘Svadha’ designs to reflect the flexibility of the card on International Yoga Day. In Atharvaveda, ‘Svadha’ means freedom, comfort or happiness, which are truly the hallmarks of this collection. Ensembles from the collection are presented to yoga practitioners and yoga lovers to try and give their feedback. The inclusion of features of a shoulder-strapped yoke, a pleat box in the middle of the upper back and a low crotch, lower wrap for easy stretching and extra comfort, high points for health collection.

Dr Kiran Bedi, a social activist, award-winning Ramon Magsaysay, and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, visited the CoEK office at NIFT to approve the collection and collaborate with the designers. Indian Plogman Mr. Ripu Daman Bevli chose to wear ensembles from the Svadha collection and appreciated the luxury of the card as a fabric and silhouette that gives you the ease to do yoga or exercise. The well-dressed ‘Svadha’ dress emphasizes the values of consideration and tolerance and is intended to attract all age groups from Gen Z to the youngest at heart. Healthy clothing uses hand-woven card in natural colors. The card strings bind people all over the world in the true sense of the word ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – the world is one family.
