Jatin Das was a prominent revolutionary and freedom fighter in the Indian independence movement. He was born on October 27, 1904 in Calcutta, India (now Calcutta) and was involved in revolutionary politics at an early age. Jatindra Nath Das was a prominent figure in the Indian nationalist movement and his family had a long history of involvement in social and political affairs.
Jatin Das grew up in a politically charged environment and was deeply influenced by his father’s activism. He received his education at St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta, where he became acquainted with the ideas of Indian nationalism and participated in various student movements.

After completing his education, Jatin Das became involved in the Indian nationalist movement and joined the Indian National Congress in 1921 and became a member of the Bengal Provincial Congress Committee. He was deeply inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement and participated in various protests and demonstrations against British rule.
In 1929, Das was involved in the famous Lahore Conspiracy Case, including Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar and Jatin Das, who were accused of trying to overthrow the British Government in India. The revolutionaries were accused of the murder of British policeman John Saunders, who was accidentally shot by one of their associates.
Jatin Das’ involvement in revolutionary politics increased after the raid on the Chittagong Armory in 1930, a failed attempt to overthrow British rule in India. He joined a revolutionary group led by Surya Sen and took part in several actions against the British.
During the trial, Jatin Das and the other accused went on hunger strike to protest against the inhumane treatment of political prisoners in the jail. Jatin Das refused to eat or drink anything for 63 days, even after being force-fed by the prison authorities. His condition worsened and he finally died on September 13, 1929 at the age of 24.
Jatin Das’ sacrifice and determination inspired many others to join India’s freedom struggle. His revolutionary moment of starting a hunger strike to protest against the inhumane treatment of political prisoners is still remembered today as a symbol of courage and commitment to the cause of Indian independence.
