Four Individuals Breach Security at Indian Parliament on 22nd Anniversary of Attack

On the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament, four individuals breached security at the Lok Sabha (House of the People) in Delhi. The trespassers carried out the intrusion by rappelling down from the visitors’ gallery and using harmless colored gas canisters while chanting slogans outside Parliament. The breach raises concerns about security lapses and prompts questions about the motivation and planning behind the incident.

The four individuals, hailing from different parts of the country, share common links suggesting anger and inspiration from freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. The incident has led to investigations by multiple security agencies to uncover the motives, planning, and individuals involved. The apparent ease with which the breach occurred highlights the need for a thorough review of security protocols.

The individuals involved include a son of a carpenter who drove an e-rickshaw, the son of daily wage laborers, an engineering graduate turned farmer, and a qualified daughter of a ‘halwai’ (sweetmaker) who sought a government job for years. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the common thread seems to be a sense of anger and inspiration drawn from historical figures like Bhagat Singh.

The security breach prompts several questions, including why security measures were easily circumvented, why the specific day was chosen, and how meticulously the incident was planned. Investigations are ongoing to determine the identities, motivations, and affiliations of the trespassers.
