The Hindi Advisory committee set up in each central government department to promote official work in Hindi

The promotion and increased use of Hindi brings us closer to the Prime Minister’s vision of Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat.” Said Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers at a meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

The Hindi Advisory Committee is a committee set up in each central government department to promote official work in Hindi, which has provisions to hold at least two meetings a year.

The primary objective of the committee is to promote the use of Hindi as an official language in the operations of the Ministry and to provide valuable recommendations to further improve its implementation.

Dr. Speaking at the event, Mansukh Mandaviya began with a profound quote from the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who emphasized the importance of using Hindi in national practices for the rapid progress of our nation. This sentiment resonates with the committee’s mission to drive the adoption of Hindi as a medium of expression that reflects India’s composite culture as mandated by Article 351 of the Constitution of India.

Emphasizing the need for ministries to use Hindi in their official work, the minister said, “The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers is committed to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to it by the Ministry of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, for promoting the official language of Hindi and achieving the objectives set out in the annual program. The ministry recognizes Hindi as a symbol of our national and cultural unity, reflecting our collective nationalism.

He further said, “Under the visionary leadership of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the present government is steadfastly implementing the principles of Reform, Perform and Transform. This philosophy extends to the Hindi realm as the government has made significant strides in its use.

Prime Minister Modi himself often uses Hindi as a medium of communication during international forums and calls for the representation of Indian culture using a simple and understandable language that is consistent with all Indian languages.

He spoke of the importance of leadership from the front in the use of Hindi, embodied by the Home Minister and also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, Shri Amit Shah: “Shri Amit Shah is himself a passionate Hindi speaker and ensures that work in his ministries is done in Hindi.”

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has put in place robust mechanisms to ensure compliance with the Official Languages Policy within its departments, businesses and offices. As a means of encouragement, the Minister presented the Citation/Rajbhasha Shield to various businesses to recognize their efforts in promoting and using Hindi as an official language.

The minister further spoke about the importance of these meetings in promoting the use of Hindi. “This committee and these meetings represent an opportunity to direct our discussions to provide significant direction for the implementation of the official languages policy. It is essential to think about how Hindi can become the language that symbolizes our self-respect in government affairs and brings us closer to the goal of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
