Elon Musk’s “Twitter 2.0 Everything App” features encrypted direct messaging (DM) or many more

CEO of Twitter Inc. Elon Musk on Tuesday revealed details of new features on his platform, including the addition of incoming calls and encrypted messaging. Last year, Musk announced plans for “Twitter 2.0 The Everything App,” which he said would include features such as encrypted direct messages (DM), long tweets, and payments.

“Soon you’ll have voice and video chats with anyone on this platform, so you can talk to people anywhere in the world without giving out your phone number,” Musk tweeted Tuesday.

The call feature on Twitter makes the micro-blogging platform similar to social media applications with features like Meta’s social features, Facebook and Instagram.

Musk said a version of encrypted direct messages would be available on Twitter starting Wednesday, but did not say whether the calls would be encrypted.

Twitter said this week that it will begin a cleanup process by deleting and archiving accounts that have been inactive for several years.
