Governance Focus: The celebrations of Digital India’s ongoing week of 2022 & ceremony of the India Stack Knowledge Exchange kicked off

As part of the celebrations of Digital India‘s ongoing week of 2022, the 3-day kick-off ceremony of the India Stack Knowledge Exchange kicked off on July 7, 2022. The event is an opportunity to showcase India’s most important contribution to the digital world – India Stack, which is an integrated software platform to bring India’s 1.4 billion people into the Digital Age. The program has seen participation from around the world. The aim is to give shape to the basic building blocks of India Stack, which drives Digital Transformation in India. India stack global was launched by the esteemed Prime Minister on 4 July 2022, and is the single repository for all major projects in India Stack.

Presenting the context of the 3-day program in the first session, Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma, secretary, MeitY, Government of India, spoke of the country ‘s challenging yet lucrative digital Transformation journey over the past eight years. The trip has had a positive impact on India’s leadership in Digital technology and its expertise in implementing digital transformation projects at a humanitarian rate. Shri Rajesh Gera, Director-General, National Informatics Center, elaborated on Aadhaar and mobile as two services that have helped good governance grow and reach end users, whether rural or urban, for easy living. Shri Abhishek Singh, President and CEO, National e Governance Division, welcomed all the distinguished speakers, while reiterating the fact that each speaker was truly innovative and effective, implementing Digital Transformation projects at the national level.

The first session was the `Indian Stack ‘product, Aadhaar. Appropriately called ‘Building Aadhaar’, it featured prominent speakers such as Drs. R.S.Sharma, Founder CEO, UIDAI, Dr. Saurabh Garg, CEO, UIDAI, Dr. Pramod Varma, former Chief Architect and Consultant, UIDAI, and Mr. Suresh. Sethi, MD and CEO, Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. The session was moderated by Drs. Saurabh Garg. Talking about the emergence of Aadhaar considers all the challenges of diverse people, and overcoming these challenges Aadhaar has made life easier for citizens, especially the severely marginalized and disadvantaged sector by bringing subsidies, benefits, and other resources under the various states. social programs. Aadhaar also became the basis for many Building Blocks. More than 17 practical stacks have been launched in Pan-India for Digital Identity, Payments, Data Development and Open Ecosystems.

The second session on ‘UPI: Leading Digital Payment Ecosystem in India’, was co-hosted by Mr Amit Agarwal, Additional Secretary, MeitY who also presided over the session. He emphasized on Digital India’s plans, which guaranteed democratic solutions for all at the same time, maintaining privacy concerns, consumer protection and possible risk management. Mr. Dilip Asbe, MD & CEO, NPCI and Mr. Sudhanshu Prasad, General Manager, RBI. Distinguished speakers spoke of the UPI as a redesign of digital payments and how wallets have changed the way people pay in the country. “India ‘s payment system over the past decade has become the most advanced payment system in terms of digital payments by volume (CAGR 50%) and price (CAGR 6%),” he quoted.

The same session was organized in conjunction, which brought to the participants the achievements India has achieved in the field of Education with Technology Stack. This session had Drs. Rare P. Behara, Associate Director, Central Education Technology Center, Mr. Vijay Kiran Anand, Director-General, School Education, Mr. Rajnish Kumar, Director (Digital Education), Department of School Education and Literacy, and Drs. Angel Ratnabai, Assistant Professor, NCERT. A session hosted by Mr. Rajnish Kumar highlighted the importance of the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR) in terms of its inclusion, privacy and design security. NDEAR works together so that all stakeholders, including independent actors, public actors, students, teachers, parents, can take an active part in the learning process. Also, the outline is designed to contain life-long records so that the material can be used in the future. The study journey will include anecdotes, schools, skills and higher education, all working together, which will provide seamless progression of the student from preschool to graduation.

The last session of the day’s theme was about Paperless Management and Data Enhancement. It was presided over by the President and CEO of NeGD, Shri Abhishek Singh. Speakers include Mr. Amit Jain, Additional Director, NeGD, Ms. Anna Roy, Sr. Advisor to Niti Aayog, Mr. Siddharth Shetty, Lead DEPA Open-Source Protocol depa.global and Mr. Amit Savant, Enterprise Solution Architect, Amazon Web Services. The importance of Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture (DEPA) was appropriately highlighted as a strategy to empower data on economic well-being for all Indian citizens; therefore, under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), accounts are online and the transaction is a RuPay Debit card or Aadhaar Enabled Program (AePS). KYC / KYC rules are now much simpler. DEPA enables data protection, sharing, authorization and privacy. Citizens can access their data seamlessly and securely and share it with third-party facilities. The panel also discussed the enhancement of India Stack, an API Setu that aims to better manage data, and allows faster and transparent software integration with other e-Governance applications and programs.

Day 1 of the virtual event was successfully concluded with 19 outstanding speakers – all veterans in their respective areas with different topics, disseminating their knowledge and knowledge to more than 5000 registered participants in 53 countries. Day 2 will witness sessions entitled Health Stack, AgriStack, and Technology Stack for Skilling and Digital Inclusion – Connecting Offline. With more than 5654 registered participants of both national and international working from Government, Industry and Education, the event served as India’s information exchange platform to discuss its role in the Global Digital Public Goods real estate market.
