As the state of Odisha typically experiences cyclones, especially in October, the local government has commenced preparations to address any such potential threats in the upcoming days.
A preparatory meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena was held at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar to discuss cyclone preparedness. Stressing the importance of cooperation and coordination, the Chief Secretary urged all relevant departments to ensure they are well-prepared.
The meeting was attended by the development commissioner, State Revenue Commissioner (SRC), additional chief secretary of the Energy Department, Director-General of the Fire Department, and secretaries from 12 departments.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) predictions, the monsoon is expected to withdraw from the state by October 10. Historically, cyclones tend to occur within 45 days of the monsoon’s withdrawal. Consequently, the state government has initiated preparations in advance.
