Politics Focus: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has proposed Gopal krishna Gandhi’s for the Next Presidential candidate from the opposition parties

With the release of the presidential election, a busy political process has begun for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and opposition parties in the election of the 15th President of India. Although the NDA-led NDA has not yet issued its cards, party president J.P. Nadda and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh are said to be negotiating with other political parties for the July 18 presidential election. In this regard, the names of several prominent politicians and others in public life have begun to form round as potential candidates for the NDA and opposition parties.

“Not in the race,” said SharadPawar and Nitish Kumar

Two words were cut short at the beginning. One was the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and former union minister SharadPawar. However, Pawar learned that he had turned down the offer. After a meeting with him, CPI (M) secretary-general SitaramYechury said: “I have been informed that Pawar will not be an opposition party in the presidential election, some names are still being considered.”

Similarly, Janata Dal-United leader and Bihar prime minister Nitish Kumar also announced he was absent from the race. “I reiterate that I am not in the running for the next President of the country,” he said, responding to a response from Bihar Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar that he was eligible for the post.

Opposition in favor of Gopalkrishna Gandhi?

Some opposition leaders have turned to politicians and former Gopalkrishna Gandhi’s former presidential candidate.He has now learned that he has been approached by leaders of opposition groups who say his response is positive. Gandhi is the grandson of two major leaders of the Indian liberation movement: Mahatma Gandhi and C. Rajagopalachari. He had held the position of vice president of India against M. Venkaiah Naidu in 2017.

According to reports, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has nominated Gandhi and former Jammu and Kashmir prime minister Farooq Abdullah as dissidents.Another name from the opposition is that of the Minister of Finance and Foreign Affairs Yashwant Sinha who split from the Bharatiya Janata party and joined the TMC.Congress leader and former J&K CM Ghulam Nabi Azad will also be elected to the opposition camp. He was the leader of the opposition party in Rajya Sabha until February 2021 and served as minister of parliamentary affairs under Manmohan Singh. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, June 15, began talks with other opposition leaders in Delhi over the appointment of an ordinary person to the opposition.

Very high number of BJPs

All in all, this time the BJP, the majority in Lok Sabha and close to the majority and its allies in Rajya Sabha, has a margin when it comes to presidential elections.The Electoral College, which includes members of both Houses of Parliament and state legislatures, has an average of 10.86 lakh votes. The BJP and its coalition partners are slightly shorter than the 5.26 lakh or 48% vote mark. The BJP will therefore seek the support of other regional and national parties to ensure the smooth running of the candidate.

Leading parties are Biju Janata Dal led by Odisha Prime Minister Naveen Patnaik (about 31,000 votes), YSR Congress Party led by Andhra Pradesh Prime Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy (about 43,000 votes) and All India Anna DravidaMunnetraKazhagam. (about 15,000 votes). Some of these parties have already announced their decision to support the NDA candidate.Although, the deadline for nominations is June 29, the process will be completed on June 30. Voting will take place on July 18 and the results will be announced on July 21 – paving the way for the new president. July 25th.
