Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with her husband and son, joined Rahul Gandhi on Thursday during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party’s mass outreach program currently sweeping through Madhya Pradesh for the first time since the march began in September. Priyanka Gandhi, her husband Robert Vadra and son Rehan were seen matching steps with Rahul Gandhi.
Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot also participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which continued from Borgaon village in Madhya Pradesh this morning. The pilot joined the foot march at a time when demands for a change in leadership were raised again in Rajasthan, days before the yatra enters the desert state. Addressing a public rally in Burhanpur on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said he walks for about eight hours and covers an average of 25 kilometers a day to listen to the people’s ‘mann ki baat’.
“We interact with people in between the Yatras. We hear the people’s ‘Man ki Baat’ for about eight hours and talk for about 15 minutes. Not like the Prime Minister’s ‘Man Ki Baat’, we listen to what the farmers, youths, women, laborers and petty traders throughout the day,” he said.
“We started this journey from Kanyakumari. When we started, opposition people said that India is 3,300 kilometers long and it cannot be done on foot, but now we have come to Madhya Pradesh, here we will walk about 370 kilometers. This Yatra will reach Srinagar and our the tricolor will be hoisted there, no one can stop it,” the Congress leader added. The jatra will enter Rajasthan from Madhya Pradesh on December 4 after covering a distance of 380 km.
