The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won four out of the five states that went to the Assembly Election polls in February-March, namely, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has swept Punjab results.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has done it again and has written history by returning to power. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become the only incumbent government to retain power in Uttar Pradesh, since 1985. In the 403 member Uttar Pradesh assembly, the BJP has won 255 seats.
Yogi Adityanath is set to become the first Chief Minister to return to power in the state after completing a five-year term, as till now, no chief minister in Uttar Pradesh has ever completed a five-year term in office and has been elected again to return to power for the next 5 year term.
Samajwadi Party (SP) won 111 seats, while Congress won just 2 seats. 34 seats in Uttar Pradesh Assembly went to others.
Uttarakhand Elections Final Results
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has returned to power in Uttarakhand, with the party winning 47 seats in the 70 seat assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party is followed by Congress, which won 19 seats and the independent candidates won 4 seats. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Congress leader and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat lost elections.
Manipur Elections Final Results
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single-largest party winning 32 seats and is set to form government in Manipur. The National People’s Party won 7 seats while the Janata Dal (United) won 6 seats. Congress got five seats.
Goa Elections Final Results
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain power in Goa after emerging as the single largest party, winning 20 seats in the 40-member Goa assembly. Congress won 11 seats, while AAP took 2 seats.
Punjab Elections Final Results
In their first big win outside Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party set to gain control over Punjab winning 92 seats. A distant second Congress won 18 seats and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got just two seats. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) got 3 seats, and one seat each was won by an independent candidate and the BSP.
