Satish Kaushik was born as Satish Chandra Kaushik in a simple family on 13 April 1956 in Mahendergarh, Haryana. He did his schooling from there but did his college at Kirorimal College, Delhi. After college, Satish joined the National School of Drama. He was then also associated with the Film and Television Institute of India.
After acting in many theatres, he got his first break in 1983 in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, but he got recognition in Mr. India (1986). Satish’s ‘calendar’ role in this film was liked by all. Satish Kaushik married a girl named Shashi in 1985. His two-year-old son died in 1996 after suffering a deep shock. In 2012, their daughter Vanshika was born.
Struggling days
Crediting Anil Kapoor for reviving his career as a filmmaker, Satish Kaushik shared how he got the opportunity to direct ‘Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain’. According to him, producer D Rama Naidu was hesitant to take him on as the director of the Hindi remake of the South hit ‘Pavithra Bandham’, but Anil Kapoor talked him into it. The film turned out to be a success and gave Kaushik a new lease of life.

A day before his untimely death, Satish Kaushik attended a Holi celebration hosted by Javed Akhtar and his actress wife Shabana Azmi at their residence in Mumbai. Mr. Kaushik shared several pictures on his Instagram account on Tuesday that captured the celebrations as he celebrated with his friends from the Hindi film industry.
He was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, but his life could not be saved.
