Amid global aviation chaos, the British government launched an “Air Passenger Charter” on Sunday to help passengers know their rights if they encounter problems at airports following this year’s widespread disruption.
A new charter will help passengers know what to do if they are faced with cancellations, delays or missing luggage, the government said, with guidance on how to complain if they feel they have been treated unfairly. The government has also empowered airlines to operate “realistic” summer flight schedules and speed up security checks.
Travel this summer has become a nightmare for millions of travelers in the US and Europe. Long queues, canceled flights and lost luggage caused by staff shortages are plaguing summer travel as the industry struggles to keep up with a surge in demand following the Covid-19 pandemic.
