“These IT staffs are making good use of existing IT skills, such as software and mobile application development, to secure private employment contracts with clients worldwide, including in North America, Europe and East Asia,” the report said. Many North Korean workers pretended to be from South Korea, Japan, or other Asian countries, according to the advice. It has set a series of red flags for employers to watch, including refusing to participate in video calls and requests for cash payments.U.S. officials say North Koreans are mostly based in China and Russia, with smaller numbers operating in Africa and Southeast Asia.
