Tragedy Strikes: TMC Leader and Spouse Gunned Down in West Bengal – Police Launch Investigation

In a shocking incident that unfolded in the early hours of Monday, two individuals, including a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, were fatally shot by a group of assailants in Joynagar, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. The TMC leader identified as Saifuddin Lashkar, who served as a panchayat member, and his wife, the panchayat head, fell victim to the attack.
The assailants, yet to be identified, intercepted Saifuddin Lashkar in front of his house in the early hours of Friday. A barrage of gunfire left him lifeless on the spot. Prompted by the sound of the gunshots, vigilant villagers gave chase to the attackers, managing to apprehend one of them, who was subsequently beaten to death. The remaining assailants, however, successfully evaded capture.
A senior police officer from the Baruipur police district confirmed the tragic incident, noting that an investigation is underway. As of now, one suspect has been arrested, and police efforts are ongoing to determine the motives behind the brutal attack.
