Sunil Gavaskar shocked with his ‘ICC-Gabba’ declaration and made a bold prediction for the fourth Test match

Indian batting legend Sunil Gavaskar remained the only person to go against the ICC’s verdict at Indore, where Australia emerged victorious with a nine-wicket win in a match that lasted just seven sessions. The track was deemed “bad” and was awarded three points per fault.

Gavaskar responded by recalling the Gabba ground where the match between Australia and South Africa lasted just two days. But the former Indian cricketer shocked with his statement before making a bold prediction for the fourth Test match to be held in Ahmedabad next week.

“One thing I would like to know was this test match in November at the Brisbane Gabba where the game was over in 2 days. How many points did that ground get and who was the umpire? I think 3 points minus is a bit harsh,” he previously stated earlier Gavaskar in response to the ICC statement.

However, Gavaskar later admitted that pitches like Indore take away the competition between the bat and the ball and hence it is not a great idea.

“I think it needs to be thought about a bit more. This pitch failed in 2012-13 when Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar spun England to victory. I don’t think it’s a great idea to have a pitch of this quality,” Gavaskar told India Today. “You want to have a pitch where there’s a good balance between the bat and the ball. You want to have a pitch where the first couple of days the new-ball bowlers can get some help and the batsmen can play across the line and score.” runs. And then from Day 3 and Day 4, the ball turns a little bit.”

Speaking of the fourth and final Test match in Ahmedabad, Gavaskar feels that if it’s another furious turner, India are likely to bounce back and claim the trophy and their place in the WTC final, but at the cost of picking up minus points.

“I don’t know what will happen in Ahmedabad. If the pitch in Ahmedabad is a whirlwind turner, then India might win, but the pitch might get handicap points,” he added.

According to a report, the Gujarat Cricket Association has not received any instructions from the Indian team on the track for the fourth Test and to avoid an Indore-like ruckus, they are trying to create a “normal track”.
