PM participates in the inaugural ceremony of  90th anniversary of Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Brahma Vidhyalaya’s Golden Jubilee

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi participated in the opening ceremony of the 90th annual joint commemoration of Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Brahma Vidhyalaya Gold Jubilee today at 7 LokKalyan Marg. He also introduced the brand of shared celebrations throughout the year. Both Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Brahma Vidhyalaya were started with the blessing and guidance of the great social publisher Shri Narayana Guru. In addition to Sivagiri Mutt’s spiritual leaders and volunteers, Union Ministers Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Shri V. Muraleedharan were among those present.

The Prime Minister expressed his delight at welcoming the saints to his house. He remembers meeting Sivagiri Mutt’s saints and devotees years ago and that he always felt encouraged to communicate. He recalled the Uttrakhand-Kedarnath catastrophe in which despite having a Congress government in the center and the Minister of Defense of Kerala, he, as Gujarat Prime Minister, was asked to assist the Sivagiri Mutt saints by Mutt. The Prime Minister said he would not forget this right.

The Prime Minister noted that the 90th anniversary of Sivagiri Pilgrimage and Brahma Vidhyalaya’s Golden Jubilee did not end with the visit of these institutions but “this is also the immortality of the Indian ideology, which continues to advance through different spirits in different ways. times. ” He went on “whether Shiva city in Varanasi or Shivagiri village in Varkala, all Indian power centers have a special place in the lives of all Indians. These places are not just tours, they are not just centers of faith, they are centers of the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’. “

The Prime Minister pointed out that although many countries and civilizations deviated from their Dharma and materialism took the place of spiritism, in India, said the Prime Minister, our scholars and Gurus constantly purified our minds and improved our morals. The Prime Minister said Shri Narayan Guru spoke of modernity but also enriched Indian culture and heritage. He spoke of education and science but did not shy away from elevating the glory of dharma, faith and Indian traditions for a thousand years. Shri Narayan Guru has campaigned against ideas and evil and made India aware of your truth. He fought a sensible battle against prejudice, which continued in the name of anger. “Today, with the same encouragement of Narayan Guru Ji, the country is working for the poor, the oppressed, the oppressed, giving them their rights,” the Prime Minister said, adding that the country was accompanied by the speeches of SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas, SabkaVishwas and SabkaPrayas.

Calling Shri Narayan Guru a strong thinker and a real reformer, the Prime Minister said Guru Ji always followed a negotiated approach and always tried to understand each other’s point of view and tried to convey his point of view collectively. He often created a space in the community that the community used to find a way to improve themselves for the right reason. The Prime Minister further explained that if we go through this process of social transformation, then the potential for social development will arise. He cited the example of the public acceptance of the BetiBachao, BetiPadhao campaign in recent times when the situation has improved rapidly as the government has been able to create a conducive environment.

The Prime Minister went on to say that, as Indians, we have only one category namely Indians. We have only one religion – the dharma of service and work. We have only one god – the Mother of India. Shri Narayan Guru’s exhortation on ‘One Framework, One Religion, One God’ provides a spiritual dimension to the zeal of our country, he added. “We all know that there is no world goal for the united Indians,” he said.

After AmritMahotsav’sAzadiAzadi, the Prime Minister also put forward his analysis of the liberation struggle which he said had always had a spiritual foundation. The premier said, “Our liberation struggle did not end with protests and political tactics. Although it has been a struggle to break the chains of slavery but it has been informed by the idea of ​​how we will become an independent state as, only what we oppose is not important, what we stand for is very important. ”

The Prime Minister commemorated the meetings that created the era of the heroes of the liberation struggle and Shri Narayan Guru. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Gandhi Ji and Swami Vivekananda and many other dignitaries met with Shri Narayan Guru on various occasions and at these meetings, the Prime Minister said, the seeds of Indian reconstruction were sown, the effects of which are evident in modern-day India and 75 years. national travel. Noting the fact that in 10 years Sivagiri Pilgrimage and in 25 years India’s independence will celebrate its 100th anniversary. At this event our success and vision should be global, he said.

Sivagiri Pilgrimage is held annually for three days from December 30 to January 1 in Sivagiri, Thiruvananthapuram. According to Shri Narayana Guru, the purpose of pilgrimage should be to create a broader understanding of the people and the pilgrimage should contribute to their overall development and prosperity. The trip therefore focuses on eight subjects namely education, hygiene, godly devotion, crafts, trade and commerce, agriculture, science and technology and organized efforts.

The pilgrimage began with a handful of volunteers in 1933 but has now become one of the largest events in South India. Every year, dedicated lakhs from all over the world regardless of category, religion, creed and language visit Sivagiri to participate in the procession.
