Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh joined the Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) team in New Delhi on April 26, 2022. TMR, founded by Shri Hemant Sachdev, is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Indian Army since 2016. It provides many teams of highly motivated and highly qualified Avalanche Rescue professionals stationed in frozen and difficult areas during the winter. Teams have been instrumental in providing avalanche rescue and training to Indian Army personnel in mountain crafts. Shri Rajnath Singh was briefed on TMR activities during the event.
Raksha Mantri commended TMR for saving the lives of Army personnel from threats such as glaciers, without raising awareness and providing them with training. He cited TMR as a source of strength for troops deployed in difficult areas and facing various threats such as flood bombings. He thanked the fact that there had never been a military victim in the areas where TMR was deployed. RakshaMantri stressed that TMR has a huge responsibility on their shoulders as in the future threats like avalanche may increase due to climate change. RakshaMantri described the work done by TMR as a shining example of a partnership between Government and society.
He emphasized that the Nation was moving forward in development only if the government and civil society organizations worked together. “Government and civil society are the wheels on which the country can achieve the goal of sustainable development in all countries,” he said. Deputy Chief of Staff Lt Gen ManojPande, Director-General of Military Operations Lt Gen BS Raju and other senior military officers. Officials were present at the event.
