Actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the titular character in the TV show Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), last shot in April last year. Due to a rift between him and showrunner Asit Modi, shailesh Lodha left the show.
In early January, we reported how Lodha had been waiting for more than six months to pay his more than a year’s worth of dues. The latest update we have come to know is that shailesh Lodha has decided to take legal support.
From what we gathered in the first week of March, Lodha filed a complaint against Modi for his outstanding dues and sued his production company. The Waah Bhai Waah host approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and initiated Section 9 insolvency resolution of the company as Modi was unable to pay his debts. A hearing is scheduled for May.
When we reached Lodha, the actor-poet said, “The matter is before the court, so I will not comment on it.
Modi, on the other hand, excused himself from commenting on the matter, saying he was travelling. We were soon contacted by Sohil Ramani, Project Manager, TMKOC, who said, “There’s not much to say that hasn’t been said before. Shailesh Lodha was only like family. When he left, we respected that. And on many occasions we asked him by email and phone to come to the office to sign all the required papers and take the remaining number.
We have never declined or refused to pay his payment. In every company when people leave they have to sign full and final documents before full payment is released. where is the problem? Instead of going around complaining, isn’t it better to simply follow the normal course of action? Ask Ramani how they want the case to proceed and he replies, “We are not pursuing any case because we have not refused to pay him. We have already informed Mr. Shailesh lodha to take his dues and sign the required documents.
