In a remarkable and heartwarming turn of events, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan‘s latest release, “Jawan,” cast its enchantment on a cinema hall in the once-turbulent north Kashmir town of Handwara. This charming makeshift theater, inaugurated just last month with the screening of another SRK classic, “Chak De India,” is breathing new life into a region once notorious as a transit route for insurgents from across the Line of Control.
The screening of “Jawan” drew a spirited crowd, with young and old alike, along with district officials, converging to witness the spectacle. Directed by the acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Atlee, “Jawan” hit screens worldwide on September 7, transcending linguistic barriers with releases in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
This high-octane action thriller boasts a star-studded ensemble, featuring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and a special appearance by Deepika Padukone. However, at its core, “Jawan” is a gripping father-son narrative that artfully delves into various social and political issues through Shah Rukh Khan’s charismatic portrayal.
The film also boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Mukesh Chhabra, and even a cameo appearance by the iconic Sanjay Dutt.
“Jawan,” a production of Red Chillies Entertainment, helmed by the talented Gauri Khan and co-produced by Gaurav Verma, has struck box office gold, amassing a staggering ₹574.89 crore gross in just five days worldwide.
