Mumbai Bandra Police have launched an investigation following a threatening call received on their landline, targeting Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and demanding a ₹50 lakh ransom. The caller’s identity remains unknown, but the case has been registered under Sections 308 (4) and 351 (3)(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Cyber Police are assisting in tracing the caller and ensuring the actor’s safety.
The call, reportedly traced to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, prompted a police team to leave for the state to continue the investigation.
Recent Threats Against Salman Khan
This incident follows multiple recent threats aimed at actor Salman Khan. On November 5, the Mumbai Police received a WhatsApp message allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding that Salman Khan apologize or pay ₹5 crore to avoid harm. The message stated, “If he wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologize or give ₹5 crore. If not, our gang is still active.”
This was the second threat Salman Khan received in a week. An earlier message demanded ₹2 crore from the actor, leading to the arrest of a man from Jamshedpur for a similar threat in October.
Both cases highlight a surge in security concerns for Bollywood celebrities, with Mumbai Police working closely with cyber units and other law enforcement agencies to address these threats.
