RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Emphasizes Sanatan Dharma as Essence of Indian Culture

In a recent address, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat underscored the significance of Sanatan Dharma as the core of Indian culture. Bhagwat also highlighted the prevalence of the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” which places humanity above economic considerations, during the G20 Summit held under India’s presidency.

The G20 Summit, attended by influential nations like the US, the UK, Russia, China, and France, was hosted in Delhi with the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future.’ Bhagwat pointed out that India’s approach at the summit prioritized human concerns over purely economic ones.

While the G20 typically focuses on economic and diplomatic aspects, the recent summit, under India’s leadership, emphasized the human philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Bhagwat expressed the intention to turn this philosophy into action, emphasizing India’s practical viewpoint rooted in unity and oneness.

Bhagwat reflected on India’s rich history, describing it as a “golden bird” that flourished for nearly 3,000 years, characterized by a lack of poverty and an absence of begging. He emphasized that India possesses an ancient treasure of wisdom that can guide the world towards peace and happiness.

Addressing contemporary global challenges, Bhagwat noted that the world is seeking solutions from India in the face of conflicts like the Ukraine-Russia and Israel-Hamas disputes. He acknowledged the rising crime rates and social disintegration, underscoring the need for individuals to search for happiness within themselves and practice truth, information, and compassion.

Regarding the RSS’s role and activities, Bhagwat stressed the importance of understanding the organization’s work and objectives, calling for a deeper exploration beyond speculation.

He asserted that India has the potential to meet the world’s needs and that the essence of Indian culture lies in promoting happiness, ending discord, and maintaining peace. Bhagwat also discussed various ideologies, including socialism and capitalism, and their limitations in eliminating suffering. He advocated seeking contentment through inner discipline and selflessness while emphasizing the prevalence of Sanatan Dharma’s values since ancient times.

Bhagwat clarified that Sanatan Dharma extends beyond Hinduism, encapsulating a balanced way of life and a societal framework based on mutual respect and collective well-being. He emphasized that the upliftment of Sanatan Dharma is synonymous with the upliftment of India, as religion unifies and establishes equilibrium.

The RSS chief underlined the importance of fostering unity in India, emphasizing that every Indian is a son of Mother India. He noted the organization’s role in binding through dharma, promoting unity, culture, and development.

In a symbolic gesture of unity, Bhagwat later unveiled a statue of Bharat Mata in Jakhbud village on the outskirts of Kathua, underscoring the importance of collective strength and culture in India.
