Governance Focus: A bilateral meeting help between Ministry of Energy and Water resources of India with Republic of Tajikistan

India’s Union Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Science Dr. Jitendra Singh held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Energy and Water Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr Daler Juma Shofaqir at the UN Ocean Summit in Lisbon, Portugal and discussed a number of issues affecting the Indian economy interest in each other. Both Ministers discussed water resource research, with a special focus on Glacier recognition, Extra Power, etc. Tajikistan Prime Minister has called on India to support global water action and climate resilience in Water for Sustainable Development.

Dr Jitendra Singh pointed out that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi hosted the first India-Central Asia Summit in January this year with the participation of the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, respectively, the importance attached to the Leaders of India and Central Asian countries in the full and lasting relations of India-Central Asia. Dr. Jitendra Singh also spoke at the 11th meeting of the Tajik Government of India and India on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation 2020, in which economic, trade, finance, investment, private sector, industrial and new technologies, transport, agriculture, energy, education, culture and tourism.

Dr Jitendra Singh told Tajik colleague Daler Juma Shofaqir that during Indian President Shri Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to Tajikistan in 2018, eight MoUs /agreements were signed in the areas of Peaceful Use of Space Technology, Disaster Management, Renewable Energy and Agricultural Research. and Education to name a few. The two ministers welcomed the ongoing cooperation between the two countries and hoped that relations would grow from strength to strength in the future there are more than one field including pharmacy, healthcare, chemistry etc. After all, under PM Modi, all these sectors have received a special boost, especially after the Covid-19 epidemic
