Rajnath Singh: India’s rise to power is not to scare, but for the prosperity of the world

Speaking at the 98th Convocation of the Delhi University, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India’s rise to power is not meant to threaten anyone but to lead by the essence of well-being, prosperity and security of the entire world. The Defence Minister was speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Delhi University on the 26th of February 2022. He said that India intends to become the ‘Jagat Guru’ all over again and so the vision is to make the country powerful, rich, and knowledgeable.

Focusing on the government’s push to build an entrepreneurial environment for the involvement of the country’s youth, he said that earlier the country lacked the start-up environment which has changed swiftly in the past seven years. Providing figures, he said that by 2014 the country had just 500 start-ups, which have gone up significantly to reach sixty thousand by the current year. In 2021 alone, 45 new unicorns were registered, which elevated the total number of Indian Unicorns to 83. Also, in just over a month into 2022 and already 10 more unicorns have joined the list, he added.

Rajnath Singh said that the youth is the greatest power any country can have for monumental changes, and India has that power and the future of the country depends on this very substantial youth power. He urged the youngsters of the country to come forward and step up with a clear focus to assume the leadership role through innovations, inventions, ideas and by setting up newer companies and research organizations in the country.

Rajnath Singh said that in the last 98 years of Delhi University’s history, the university has proven its capability across the globe. He said that the alumni of Delhi University are spread across the world and are very successful in every domain and discipline, which inculcates their alma mater with a sense of great pride.

He added that the students have multiple new paths of gaining knowledge as soon as they step out into the world. He urged students to polish up their skill sets by the means of applying them in their respective fields. While emphasizing the need to understand and associate with the roots of the Indian culture and tradition, he stressed that no nation can ever achieve greatness without truly understanding and paying respect to its golden past.

He said that everyone should remember and stick to the great Indian tradition of equality, harmony and knowledge. In ancient times, India was the leader in the fields of science and knowledge, but because of the long phase of slavery the country went through, the people are not aware of the glorious past, Rajnath Singh added. Rajnath Singh quoted multiple ancient scientists, scholars and sages to support the fact that India was the leader in the space of science and technology.

The world got Zero from India, which went on to make counting possible. The famous ‘Quadratic Equation’ was invented by the great Sridharacharya. Calculus was available in the written form in Kerala over three hundred and fifty years before Newton put it forward. About one thousand years before Copernicus, Aryabhatt had proved that the Earth was round and it rotated on its axis, Rajnath Singh said.

He said that distinguished personalities the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs have said that in the time of crisis, they found peace, positivity and new direction in life in spiritual places like Kaichi Dham Temple of Neem Karoli Baba at Nainital in Uttrakhand.

Rajnath Singh stressed that Samskara is more vital and important than becoming intelligent, meritorious and wealthy. He added that there are numerous examples like Afzal Guru, Yakub Menon, and Osama Bin Laden, who shatter the thought that the lack of education and poverty are the only reasons for terrorism. He urged the youth to pledge that they will stay away from any kind of activity that goes against the interest of the nation.
