In the Indian Army, DAC has provided new AoNs to acquire Rough Terrain Fork Lift trucks (RTFLTs), Bridge Laying Tanks (BLTs), Wheeled Armored Fighting (Wh AFVs) Vehicles with Anti-Military -Tank (ATGMs) and Weapons for Acquisition. (WLRs) with local resources that emphasize indigenous formation and development. Following the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the ‘Atmanirbharta‘, Defense Acquisition Council (DAC), at a meeting chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh on June 06, 2022, he approved the AoN Recommendation for the Proposals for Acquisition.
Power up to Rs 76,390 crore under the categories ‘Buy (Indian)’, ‘Buy & Make (Indian)’ and ‘Buy (Indian-IDDM)’. This will give greater impetus to the Indian defense industry and significantly reduce foreign exchange spending.In the Navy, the DAC provided AoN for the acquisition of Next Generation Corvettes (NGC) at a reasonable price. R36,000 million. These NGCs will be flexible forums for a variety of activities namely. surveillance operations, escort operations, prevention, Surface Action Group (SAG) operations, Search and Attack and Coast Guard. These NGCs will be built on the basis of the new indoor construction of the Indian Navy using the latest shipbuilding technology and will contribute to advancing the SAGAR Government (Safety and Growth for everyone in the region) campaign.
DAC has awarded AoNs for making Dornier Aircrafts and Su-30 MKI aero-engines by Navratna CPSE M / s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited with a focus on improving indigenization especially in the use of indigenising aero-engine.In line with the Government’s vision for digital defense transformation, the ‘Digital Coast Guard’ project under the ‘Purchase (India) Phase has been approved by the DAC. Under this project, a secure pan India network will be established for the digital integration of various overhead and aviation, transport, finance and HR processes at Coast Guard.
