Congress spokesman Pawan Khera has taken to social media to call Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar a fool for his comments in the history books. Responding to comments on social media that Akshay’s comments would hurt those who regarded the ‘Mughal invaders’ as heroes, Pawan Khera said, “For me, both Akshay Kumar and Akbar are from this country.”
In interviews with media organizations prior to the release of his film Samrat Prithviraj, Akshay Kumar recently said that history books need to balance the stories of Mughal kings with Hindu kings. “There were only three-four lines about Samrat Prithviraj in the history books I read. Thanks to this film, I got to know a lot about him. I don’t think anyone else knew about him,” Akshay Kumar said.
“When I spoke to my son about him (Prithviraj), he said, ‘I know about the English empire, the Mughal empire, but who?’ So it is a pity that we do not know about our masters. There were only a few lines about Rana Pratap, Rani of Jhansi. But there are many chapters on the Mughals, “he added.
The comments formed a line as many disagreed with what Akshay Kumar had said and pointed out that they had learned about Hindu kings and not just the Mughals. One of the critics is Pawan Khera who tweeted, “If you had listened to your parents and read a little bit you would not have been so deceived in public.
If Akshay Kumar praised Muhammad Ghori, Pawan Khera would have regarded him as an educated man but Akshay Kumar touched a muscle that would injure those who regard Mughal invaders as heroes, a journalist wrote on Twitter criticizing Pawan Khera. In this case, a party spokesman said he considered both Akshay Kumar and Akbar as Indians. Samrat Prithviraj is released today and is tax free in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
