World Focus: Security forces in Pakistan are increasingly wary of rumors of a plot to assassinate Imran Khan

Security agencies have been monitoring areas near Islamabad amid rumors, according to news agency ANI, of a plot to assassinate former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Islamabad police spokesman said Article 144 has already been placed in the Pakistani capital and rallies have been closed due to the arrival of Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala. Given the expected arrival of Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at the Bani Gala, a residence located in Islamabad, security has been beefed up in the area and a great deal of vigilance has been felt. However, to date Islamabad police have not received any confirmation news of the return of Imran Khan’s party, “Islamabad police said on Twitter.

“The Security Division has deployed a dedicated security force in the Bani Gala. A list of Bani Gala people has not yet been handed over to the police.

“The Islamabad police will provide complete security to Imran Khan legally and it is expected that there will be similar co-operation with the Imran Khan security forces,” police said. Imran Khan was trying to prevent the new government from experiencing the economic crisis and inflation, issues that were exacerbated during his tenure.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhary, a former government minister, had earlier said Imran Khan would be in Islamabad on Sunday. In April, Chaudhary said security agencies had reported a ‘conspiracy’ to assassinate Khan.
