Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, has greenlit significant infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing traffic flow in Madhya Pradesh. With an approved budget of Rs. 3549.48 crore, these projects are set to transform transportation infrastructure in the state.
One of the approved projects involves the 4-laning of a 41 km section of National Highway-146 B, from Shahganj Bypass end to Badi Package-IV, in Sehore and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh. This initiative, undertaken under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, is expected to streamline travel to Jabalpur, Bhopal, Betul, and Indore cities, thereby connecting various urban nodes and reducing travel time significantly.
Another key project entails the construction of a 6-lane service road on both sides of Ayodhya bypass from Asharam Tiraha to Ratnagiri Tiraha in Bhopal. With an allocated budget of Rs. 1238.59 crore, this endeavor aims to enhance connectivity between National Highway-146 and National Highway-46, providing a crucial link to Bhopal Airport. By widening the route to 6 lanes, congestion in Ayodhya Bypass and Bhopal city is expected to decrease, facilitating smoother traffic movement and reducing accidents.
Additionally, approval has been granted for the construction of a 34 km long Chasale 6-lane Indore Western Bypass under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. Priced at Rs. 1534.70 crore, this project will serve to alleviate traffic congestion in Bandur city and enhance safety by diverting commercial traffic away from the city center.
These projects underscore the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and promoting economic growth through improved transportation networks. By enhancing connectivity, reducing travel time, and ensuring safer roadways, these initiatives are poised to benefit both commuters and the economy of Madhya Pradesh.
