The Vice President, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today said the people have all the right protests, but there is no place for violence in a democracy. ‘Destroying public property will hurt the interests of the nation’, he said and urged people to refrain from extremes.
The Vice President also said that India is a prosperous democracy in parliament and follows the principle of ‘Sarva Dharma Sambhava’. He said the colonial rulers were trying to create a low status among the Indians and urged the students to be proud of the glorious Indian civilization.Speaking to a group of students at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Upa-RashtrapatiNivas, Shri Naidu called on the people to defend national unity, sovereignty and national integrity, and said ‘hatred and intolerance are not part of Indian culture’.
The Vice President wanted students to protect and improve their mother tongue, while learning as many languages as possible. Advise students to use healthy eating habits and exercise regularly.Responding to a variety of student questions, the Deputy President said that in order to be successful in life it is important to strive for excellence, work hard, and commit to achieving your goals. He advised students to learn about the lives and teachings of our great leaders and to imitate their qualities in order to achieve success.
