Women’s Day 2022: MSME Ministry Launched Special Entrepreneurship Promotion Drive “SAMARTH” for Women

On the occasion of Women’s Day 2022, Union Minister for MSME, Narayan Rane launched in New Delhi a Special Entrepreneurship Promotion Drive for Women called “SAMARTH”. The Minister of State for MSME, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma was also present in the launch event. The presence was marked by the Secretary (MSME), Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME), Chairman (KVIC), Senior Officials of the Ministry and women entrepreneurs.

Rane congratulated the women at the Event and said that the MSME sector offers an abundance of opportunities for women. He said that through its schemes and initiatives, the Ministry of MSME is religiously making every effort to develop an entrepreneure lifestyle amongst the women by offering several benefits for women, additional to the schemes already implemented by the Ministry.

Rane set forth a Special Entrepreneurship Promotion Drive for Women called “SAMARTH” that is being implemented by the Ministry to provide the women with an opportunity to become self-reliant and independent through the course of undertaking self-employment opportunities.

Bhanu Pratap, the Minister of State for MSME, said that the Ministry is looking for greater participation by women in the MSME sector and therefore the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises ministry will work hard to promote entrepreneurship opportunities for women.

Today, women are creating exceptional and innovative achievements in every sphere of life and are very optimistic on the prospects of what the future holds for them. With the increased supportive initiatives by the government, together we can bring in a new era of change in India`s future, Bhanu said.

The Samarth initiative provides the following benefits to aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs:

  • 20 percent of the seats in the free Skill Development Programs organized under the skill development schemes of the Ministry will be reserved for Women, which will benefit over 7500 women.
  • 20 percent of the MSME Business Delegations sent to domestic and international exhibitions will be dedicated to the MSMEs owned by women, under the schemes for Marketing Assistance which is implemented by the MSME Ministry.
  • 20 percent Discount will be provided to women on annual processing fee on NSIC’s Commercial Schemes.
  • Under the Udyam Registration scheme, special drive will be organized for registration of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises‘s owned by women.

Through the initiative, the Ministry of MSME is aiming to provide Skill Development and  Market Development Assistance to women. According to the data, more than 7500 women candidates will be trained in the Financial Year 2022-23, from rural and sub-urban areas.  Also, thousands of women will be provided with marketing opportunities to showcase their products in the domestic as well as in the international exhibitions.

In order to enhance the participation of women entrepreneurs in Public Procurement, a special discount of 20 percent will be provided on annual processing fee on National Small Industries Corporation’s following commercial schemes during the year 2022-23:

  • Single Point Registration Scheme
    • Raw Material Assistance and Bill Discounting
    • Tender Marketing
    • B2B Portal msmemart.com

On the occasion of Women’s Day, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises organised an international conference on the topic of ‘Empowering Women Entrepreneurs’ which was organized in close association with the National Small Industries Corporation and India SME Forum.

The Conference was organized to provide a platform to the existing and aspiring Indian Women Entrepreneurs, so that they may learn from the experiences and the entrepreneurial journey of the most successful women entrepreneurs, hailing from different parts of the world.

The conference also acted for discussing best practices and innovation in entrepreneurship with international experts. An all inclusive presentation was also made by the senior officials from the Ministry showcasing the various schemes being implemented by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
