Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh says Agri-tech Start-ups are important for India’s future economy

The Minister is pleased to note that young entrepreneurs are giving up jobs in the IT and MNCs to start their own businesses and that these young entrepreneurs are beginning to see the fact that investing in agriculture is one of the few safe and profitable businesses.

Agritech Startups With innovative ideas and affordable solutions

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Agritech Startups provides innovative ideas and affordable solutions to many of the challenges facing the entire agricultural price chain and has the potential to transform the Indian agricultural sector and ultimately raise the income of farmers. He said, those emerging entrepreneurs have become a lost link between farmers, input traders, wholesalers, retailers and consumers who connect with each other and provide strong marketing links and quality products on time.

According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the third edition of the TechBharat with the theme “Transforming India’s FoodTech, AgriTech& Agronomic Landscape” is timely as Agriculture is one of the key pillars of the Indian economy as 54 percent of the Indian population is directly dependent on it. agriculture also accounts for about 19 (21) percent of GDP. He said that although agriculture in India has seen continued growth over the past few years, much has been done to promote new, innovative and unique ideas in the sector.

Dr. Jitendra Singh strongly encouraged the use of modern and innovative technologies in the field of Agriculture and pointed out that countries like Israel, China and the US have changed many agricultural practices in their country through technology. He said these countries have shown that various technologies such as hybrid seed, precision farming, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, geo-tagging & satellite monitoring, mobile applications and farm management software can be used at all stages of agricultural process to increase productivity. and farm money.

Prime Ministerhad unveiled 100 Made in India agricultural drones

DrJitendra Singh announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled 100 Made in India agricultural drones across the country in February this year, conducting farm operations on different planes simultaneously. He also referred to Union Finance Minister NirmalaSitharaman’s Budget Speech, in which he said it would improve the use of “Kisan Drones” for crop testing, digital recordings, pesticide spraying and nutrition. He said, AgriTech is nothing, but the use of modern technology in the agricultural sector for the purpose of improving productivity, efficiency and revenue. The concept extends to any applications, processes, products and services that enhance any part of the agricultural process, be it an import function or an acquired product, he adds.

The Minister said many agri-tech startups in India are mainly part of the market where e-commerce companies provide fruits and vegetables directly to farmers, but more recently there have been many initiatives that provide new and sustainable solutions to farmers’ problems. He said Startups now offers solutions such as biogas plants, solar panels, fencing and pumping, weather forecasting, spraying equipment, seed drilling and direct farming, which will increase farmers’ incomes.

In his concluding remarks, DrJitendra Singh said, he hoped that the increase in internet usage, increased smartphone penetration, the emergence of startups and various government programs in rural areas facilitated the rapid adoption of technology in the farm sector. He said, technological solutions to many agricultural problems exist but the challenge is that these solutions reach every farmer on a large scale and not just one farmer. It is time to embrace technology in this very important sector of our economy and to a large extent, so that agriculture and the farming community can benefit and the Indian economy can also grow faster, added the Minister.
