Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia, at the Zonal Athletic Meet in West Vinod Nagar, Delhi, emphasized that future Olympians are being nurtured in Delhi’s government schools. In his address, Sisodia expressed satisfaction with the progress in education and sports, highlighting that there is now no gap in performance between government and private school students.
“Today, we see sports talent from both government and private schools. I consider these students as future Olympians and Commonwealth Games players. We will proudly watch them raise the Indian flag in international competitions,” Sisodia said during the event, according to an official statement.
He also envisioned a future where some of these students would represent India on global platforms such as the Commonwealth Games, Olympics, and National Games, saying, “We will see some of these children on television and say with pride that this child was once with us in Zone 1.”
Sisodia urged teachers to actively encourage students to pursue sports and highlighted the critical role of sports in one’s life. Reflecting on his own experience, he said, “If I had participated in sports during my childhood, I might not have suffered from knee pain today.”
The event showcased the commitment of the Delhi government to promote both academics and athletics, with Sisodia reinforcing the importance of sports in shaping the future of students.
