The Finance Minister has announced Mahila Samman Bachat Patra – a one-time new small savings scheme – for a period of two years till March 2025. This initiative will avail a deposit facility for a woman of up to ₹ two lakh for two years at a fixed interest rate of 7.5% with possibility of partial selection.
The initiative was launched to commemorate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Finance Minister further increased the maximum deposit level of the Senior Citizens’ Saving Scheme from ₹ 15,000 to ₹ 30,00,000. It also announced an increase in the maximum deposit limit for the monthly account scheme from ₹4.5 to ₹9,000 for single accounts and ₹9,000 to ₹15,000 for joint accounts.
