Global Focus: The leaders of the United States, South Korea and Japan met on the sidelines of a NATO summit last week

North Korea has criticized the United States, South Korea and Japan’s recent agreement to strengthen military co-operation as a way to implement a US military alliance program like NATO in the region. A North Korean foreign ministry spokesman said the same thing in a question asked by the KCNA, state media reported on Sunday.

“The facts clearly show that the real US intention to spread rumors ‘by the threat from North Korea’ is to justify military action in the Asia-Pacific region,” a spokesman said.” The current situation urgently needs to build national defense systems to address the rapid increase in the security environment,” a spokesman added. The leaders of the United States, South Korea and Japan met next to the NATO summit last week and agreed to look at other ways to strengthen the “extended blockade” against North Korea.
