India strongly against conflict in Ukraine: Jaishankar Prasad in Lok Sabha

India is firmly opposed to the rising crisis in Ukraine, Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday in response to a discussion on the current conflict. “We feel that no solution can be found by bleeding blood and taking innocent lives,” he added. In response to concerns about India’s position on Ukraine, Jaishankar stated, “First and foremost, we are vehemently opposed to the conflict.” We feel that no solution can be found by bleeding blood and taking innocent lives.”

“Dialogue and diplomacy are the correct remedies to any disagreements in this day and age,” the foreign minister said in the lower chamber of Parliament.

Jaishankar went on to say that the war “has had substantial ramifications for the world economy as well as our national economy.” “Like other countries, we are weighing the options and determining what is best for our national interests,” he continued.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine was debated in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Four federal ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Kiren Rijiju, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Gen VK Singh who travelled to Ukraine’s neighboring nations as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special envoys during the evacuation attempt took part in the debate.

After months of preparation, Russia launched a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine on February 24. It is insisting that pro-European Union Kyiv maintain its neutrality. Moscow has also pushed Kyiv to withdraw its request to join NATO, a military alliance of Western countries.

Living in the shadow of Russia, Ukraine has long voiced a desire to join NATO in order to protect itself from any nation’s aggression. However, Russia has hinted at agreeing to the proposal despite its strong military incursion in Ukraine, which has resulted in brutal mass deaths and the displacement of millions of people.
