In its latest Instagram post, the official ISS handle shared a series of stunning images showcasing city lights from various locations around the world, including Santiago, Mexico City, New Delhi, and Shanghai.

The images, taken from the vantage point of the space station, offer a unique perspective of urban landscapes, revealing intricate grid-like patterns, sprawling road networks, and a vibrant array of colors that highlight the cultural diversity of each city. Captioned with a note about the fascinating visual display, the post quickly garnered attention from online users worldwide.

In just 14 hours since its upload, the photos have amassed over 51,000 likes and numerous comments, with internet users expressing their awe and gratitude for the captivating imagery. The ISS, established in 1998 through collaborative efforts by the United States, Russia, Canada, Japan, and members of the European Space Agency (ESA), serves as a vital hub for space research and technological advancements. Operating as humans’ only permanent residence beyond Earth, the ISS completes one orbit around the planet approximately every 90 minutes. Spanning the size of a football field and weighing as much as a fully loaded Boeing 747, the space station represents a remarkable feat of international cooperation, with five space agencies from 15 countries contributing to its operation and maintenance.
