In a proactive measure to safeguard the Line of Control (LoC), Indian Army troops took swift action on Friday, engaging Pakistani quadcopters attempting to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir‘s Poonch district. Despite the incursion attempts in the Balnoi-Mendhar and Gulpur sectors, the vigilant response from Indian forces compelled the aerial intruders to retreat to the Pakistani side.
As part of precautionary measures, a thorough search operation was launched in both sectors to ensure that no weapons or narcotics were clandestinely dropped by the quadcopters. Troops in the Balnoi area of Mendhar noticed the intrusion around 6:30 am, prompting immediate action to repel the incursion. Similarly, in the Gulpur sector, Indian troops responded decisively to thwart any potential threat posed by the hovering quadcopters.
This incident follows a similar engagement on February 12, when Indian Army personnel successfully neutralized an enemy drone detected in the Mankote area of the Mendhar sector. It underscores the continuous efforts by Indian security forces to counter the use of drones by Pakistan for nefarious activities, including the smuggling of narcotics and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a substantial cash reward of ₹ three lakh for any individual providing information leading to the identification of drones originating from across the border. This proactive measure underscores the collaborative efforts between security forces and local communities in combating the threats posed by aerial intrusions.
As tensions persist along the LoC, the Indian Army remains vigilant and steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and sovereignty of the nation’s borders. The resolute response to incursions by Pakistani quadcopters serves as a testament to India’s unwavering determination to defend its territorial integrity and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
