In an effort to improve the export of Indian wine, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Authority (APEDA), operating under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has encouraged the participation of ten vendors at the London Wine Fair, 2022. The London Wine Fair is scheduled for June 7 – 9, which is considered one of the most important wine trade events in the world. KLC wines, Soma vine village, Grover Zampa vine, Plateaux Vintners, ASAV vineyards and Fratelli vineyards.
India exports 2.47 lakh metric tonne of liquor products at USD 322.12 million between 2020-21. The major export exports of Indian liquor products for 2020-21 were the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Singapore, Congo, and Cameroon, etc.Considering India to be the third largest market for liquor in the world, there are 12 co-operatives with a license volume of 33,919 liters per year to produce grain-based alcoholic beverages. About 56 beer production units are licensed by the Indian government.
Demand for Indian alcoholic beverage products such as malt beer, wine, white wine, brandy, whiskeys, rum, gin, etc. we have repeatedly risen in the world market. Maharashtra has become an important wine-producing country with more than 35 wineries in the province. About 1,500 hectares are used for growing grapes in wine production in Maharashtra. To improve the production of wine, the national government has declared the wine industry to be a small industry and has issued tax agreements.
APEDA has hosted workshops and wine tasting events at various international trade fairs to raise awareness about the potential of Indian wine. India’s wine industry has grown at an average annual growth rate of 14 percent between 2010 and 2017 making it the fastest growing industry in the country.
