Highlight of the first day of the Global Action Forum 2022 was a dinner attended by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh

The highlight of the first day of the Global Action Forum on Clean Energy 2022 was a dinner attended by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh with US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and other senior ministers of the forum. Action Forum 2022 began earlier with an opening ceremony at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The coveted joint convening of the Clean Energy Ministerial Conference (CEM13) and the Mission for Innovation (MI-7) September 21-23 in Pittsburgh is organized by the US Department of Energy and Carnegie Mellon University.

In addition to Jennifer Granholm, speakers Rich Fitzgerald, Allegheny County Executive, Ed Gainey, Mayor of Pittsburgh, Farnam Jahanian, President of Carnegie Mellon University, and David Sandalow, Inaugural Fellow, Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University, welcomed delegations from visiting countries to Pittsburgh, sharing transforming the Steel City from an early energy economy to an industrial hub of clean energy and innovation. They also shared how we got here – the beginnings of the Innovation Mission and the Clean Energy Ministerial Conference – and the rapid acceleration of innovation and deployment needed to achieve a global net zero economy.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and John Kerry, the US presidential special envoy for climate change, are also among the expected attendees at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum. Dr Jitendra Singh, who leads the official delegation of the joint high-level Indian ministers of the Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Science and Technology, joined energy ministers from 30 other countries in Pittsburgh for the David L. Lawrence Conference Environment Summit. Congress center in the city center.

Later, Dr. Jitendra Singh joined a private dinner for ministers and VIPs that included Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of Energy of the United States, Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources of Canada, Diego Pardow, Minister of Energy of Chile, Rob Jetten, Minister of Climate and Energy Policy of the Netherlands, German Galushchenko, Ukrainian Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Graham Stuart, Minister of State for Climate from Great Britain, Andreas Ericksen, State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, Farnam Jahanian, President of Carnegie Mellon University, Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General of the World Energy Council.

Dr Jitendra Singh said he looks forward to attending the Cleantech Leaders Roundtable and will join US industry officials and leaders tomorrow, in addition to meeting world-leading scientists and academics and the Indian diaspora. The minister noted that the Global Clean Energy Action Forum meeting offers India an opportunity to present Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s climate and clean energy vision to the world.

Dr. Jitendra Singh will have a very close presence at the plenary session and two round tables of the Global Action Forum on Clean Energy. At the 1st Roundtable on Sustainable Bioenergy and Biorefineries, he is expected to speak on India’s plan to work towards transforming the energy landscape with a significant share of clean energy. At the 2nd Round Table on Net Zero Built Environment with Connected Communities, the Minister will elaborate on India’s supported research development and technology deployment with an investment of USD 34.3 million over the last decade.

Both roundtables will be followed by a Joint Ministerial Plenary of Clean Energy Ministers (CEM13) and Mission for Innovation (MI-7) where Dr Jitendra Singh will inform the Ministers and delegates that India has been a founding and active member of MI and CEM since launch and now actively engage in MI2.0 through various mission workflows and platforms. After the events, Dr. Jitendra Singh a private dinner with selected eminent scientists, academics, doctors and philanthropists.
