India’s Tata Steel said three contract workers were injured when a bomb exploded in the eastern part of Jharkhand on Saturday. in a statement, adding that production was not affected.
Three Tata Steel contract workers were seriously injured around 10:20 a.m. Saturday following the explosion of a gas line at the Coke Plant’s Battery 6 at Jamshedpur Steel Works. Panic gripped the company’s premises as the explosion erupted in a massive flame that engulfed the Battery 6.
Tata did not say what caused the explosion, but local media reported that a gas pipe in the battery area caused a major fire. “Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause,” said Tata. Two staff members were discharged after receiving first aid and one was kept under medical supervision.
